Design and Construction of Cullen Bullen WWTP
SNG Engineering was engaged to deliver an end-to-end design and construction solution for the Cullen Bullen Wastewater Treatment Plant, utilizing the IDEA (Intermittent Decantation Extended Aeration) process. The project focused on replacing aging infrastructure with a modern, automated system capable of meeting stringent environmental discharge standards while ensuring long-term operational reliability for the regional community.

- Process Technology: Intermittent Decanted Extended Aeration (IDEA) system.

Work Description & Methodology
The project utilized SNG’s 'Design-Construct-Automate' framework. The technical scope involved the detailed design of the hydraulic process, followed by the physical construction of the IDEA tanks and inlet works. A critical component was the integration of a custom SCADA interface, allowing council operators to manage the facility remotely and generate automated EPA compliance reports. The use of the IDEA process ensured a high level of nutrient removal within a compact footprint.
